Individual Counseling with Brainspotting
I noticed after some time of doing talk therapy that even after a client had worked on cognitive distortions, found new coping skills and was experiencing healthier relationships, that the body still seemed to have a mind of its own. Clients were still experiencing uncomfortable and disorienting body sensations, from physical anxiety to nightmares to disabling body tension. I decided to pursue somatic therapy to help the body also experience trauma-based release.
Brainspotting is a powerful and effective somatic therapeutic approach that helps process and heal from trauma, emotional distress, and deep-rooted issues stored in the body. If you're struggling with past experiences, chronic stress, or unresolved emotions, Brainspotting can offer a transformative path to healing.
Who Can Benefit from Brainspotting?
Trauma Survivors: Those who have experienced physical, emotional, or sexual trauma can find profound relief through Brainspotting.
Individuals with Anxiety or Depression: This method helps uncover and address underlying causes of emotional distress.
People Struggling with Chronic Stress: If you're feeling overwhelmed or stuck in cycles of stress, Brainspotting can provide effective relief.
Performance Anxiety: Whether in work, sports, or creative pursuits, Brainspotting can help you overcome mental blocks and perform at your best.
I am certified in Levels 1 & 2 Brainspotting, and have extensive experience using this method to help individuals heal from deep emotional wounds and trauma. If you’re looking for a holistic, innovative approach to healing, Brainspotting offers the tools to help you move to a place in life where you can experience peace and grounding in your mind AND your body.
What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a brain-body-based therapy that helps individuals access, process, and release trauma, stress, and emotional blockages. This technique focuses on finding specific "brainspots"—areas in your visual field that correlate to unresolved memories or emotions. By focusing on these spots while engaging in deep emotional processing, Brainspotting facilitates healing at a neurological level, often leading to rapid and lasting change.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting can help you access deeper, unconscious parts of your brain that hold onto trauma or emotional pain. This allows for more direct, targeted healing and transformation.
How Does Brainspotting Work?
During a Brainspotting session, I will guide you to locate a "brainspot" connected to the issue you're working on. As you focus on this spot, you may experience intense emotions, sensations, or memories associated with the issue. I will be there to witness and to support you as you process and release these feelings in a safe and controlled environment.
This technique can be particularly helpful if you have or are currently experiencing anxiety, depression, or other emotional challenges, especially when traditional therapeutic approaches have not yielded the desired results.
